Managing of Intelligence System at the Unipetrol Group

Abstract:

The paper is an analytical view of the author’s many year experiences from building the Unipetrol Group information system for sharing external information sources. There is summarized the development of this system from its 1997 year startup to today. Author confronts the base environment of this system with this current content and users. You know, how this system would be used by managers, how by common users and how by advanced users – analytics? Authors inform you about changing the environment of Unipetrol Group and information providers, too. You must calculate on these changes for good managing of this system. You will know, who are the main users and how they use the system. Author show you the main statistics and how use them for managing of information sources portfolio and how managing the license policy. He tells you something about the system personalization and how to do using of the system easier for its users. He shows you some promotion methods that increase number of users immediately. Author shows you some vision about future of system and about new functions and tools, too.

About author:

Petr Dudek (1964) graduated from the Prague Institute of Chemical Technology at the Inorganic Technology Department. He worked there for three years as a postgraduate and later as an assistant and participated in learning the chemical kinetics and the information technology. From 1992 to 1995 years he worked at SPOLANA, a.s. company at the chemical engineering and strategic departments. He helped there establish the information department. In this time he received the marketing training at CMC Celakovice and another training for searching at database centers NIS CR, Data-Star, Dialog and STN International. From 1996 he has been working at UNIPETROL, a.s. company as information analyst. At Unipetrol he supervises share holding information sources, manages development and operation internal information system for Unipetrol Group competitive intelligence, manages training databases users and analyze information for holding needs.
